MARIE SAUVAGE – FREE THE SOUL

Directed by: Philippe Guédon
Model: Marie Sauvage

Through Philippe Guédon’s lens, Marie Sauvage invites us into her world and her practice of Shibari, the Japanese art of rope bondage, which she explores as a language of the body, trust and surrender.

Across a series of visually striking tableaux, Marie works with different models in ever-changing settings, transforming each session into a fleeting work of art. The ropes trace the contours of the body, reshape its relationship with space, and create a silent dialogue between artist and muse — one built on tension, vulnerability and trust.

Beyond the beauty of the images, a more intimate reflection gradually emerges. Marie opens up about her relationship with her art, vulnerability, desire, control and letting go. For her, Shibari is not simply about tying a body: it creates a space in which one can feel differently, surrender, and reconnect with oneself and with another.

A visual and introspective journey into Marie Sauvage’s world, where rope becomes, in turn, material, connection and language.
